Harvey Lee Hendrix Obituary

Harvey Lee Hendrix was born in Claremore on March 5th, 1938. He was the son of Harve Hendrix and Prudence Mae Epple. He and his brother Gene hunted and fished to help feed the family in some very lean times. He was popular in school and was on the football team at Claremore high School.

He met Treba Nell Tanner in high school and they married December of 1956.

Harvey was a lifeguard at the Claremore pool, then went into land surveying. Later he was hired by Central Airlines as a ticket agent, which later become Frontier Airlines. They moved them to Colorado Springs, then to Topeka KS where they had their first daughter, Tresa. In time, Harvey was able to get transferred to Tulsa, where they lived for many years and their daughter Lorri was born. Later in life they moved back to good old Claremore where the family still resides.

Harvey had many hobbies and loved to expand his knowledge. If he didn't know something, he would learn about it, whether it was law, civics, engineering, mechanics, welding, building homes, you name it. He could fix anything.

His love for hunting and fishing continued, and his daughters never knew what he was going to pull out of his hunting bag or vest. Would it have feathers, fins or fur? They learned good game processing skills as a family and boy did they love eating it!

He took the family on yearly fishing trips to Bull Shoals or Tenkiller lake. They spent a lot of fun times packing up the old pickup with the whole house to go camping. Treba spent a lot of time keeping the family fed with an old propane stove. Such good times, Fishing with dad was the greatest!

Harvey retired from Frontier and he had a zeal for helping people. He fixed neighbors cars, doctored the kids when they had minor injuries, everybody came to him for everything. He was the one who would, "know what to do." He went on to care for elderly relatives, one by one as they became unable to take care of themselves and took food to others which he was doing up until the day he passed.

Harvey was a generous and caring man, and made sure his family and others had a better life. He will be greatly missed.
