Funeral services for Ida Belle Jackson, 93, Adair, were Wednesday, April 20, 2 p.m., at Adair United Methodist Church. Pastor Trish Harris officiated with burial following at Adair Cemetery. Visitation was held April 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Key Funeral Home in Pryor. Jackson died Sunday, April 17, in Pryor. She was born on Sept. 26, 1917 in McLean, Texas, to James Walker and Ollie Mae (Swink) Hunter, the ninth of 10 children. When she was 4, her family moved to Cheyenne in a covered wagon. She grew up, attended elementary school, and graduated from high school there. In 1939, her family moved to Adair, where she met Norman Jackson in church. They married on Dec. 24, 1940 in the parsonage of Adair Methodist Church. They made their home in Adair and had three sons – Dwayne, Jim, and David. She loved her life on the farm as a wife, mother and homemaker. She loved to cook, sew, garden and can vegetables, and she dearly loved playing with her grandkids. She loved the Lord, and was a longtime member of Adair United Methodist Church. In 1981, she and her daughter-in-law Penny made a special and memorable trip to Israel. While there she was baptized in the Jordan River. She was the most accepting of mothers. After Jim’s widow, Penny, married Warren in 2008, in her own handwriting, she wrote, “I now have three sons again.” Survivors include two sons, Dwayne Jackson and wife Carolyn, Porum, and David Jackson, Adair; one daughter-in-law, Penny Hastings and husband Warren, Grand Prairie, Texas; two grandchildren, Mark Jackson and wife Kimberly, Burkburnett, Texas, and Jina Galliford and husband Grant, Dallas, Texas; four great-granddaughters and one great-grandson; several nieces and nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, three sisters, her husband, and one son.
