Janet Farr
Janet Elaine (Faught) Farr passed peacefully from this life on Tuesday, Oct. 29, surrounded by her family. Born on Oct. 20, 1952 to Cleon and Virginia Faught in Chickasha, Oklahoma, Janet grew up in Claremore. She graduated from Claremore High School in 1970.
While she was in high school, she began writing letters to Jim Farr, who was serving in the Vietnam War, at the urging of his mother. Those letters sparked a love within Janet and Jim that remained throughout the rest of their lives. They were both free spirits, bound together by love for each other, their family and their faith. They married on May 27, 1972 in Claremore. There, they raised their family until moving to Kansas, Okla. in retirement.
While working full time and raising a young family, Janet earned her bachelor's degree in Education from The University of Tulsa. She began her career as a teacher for children with special needs at Project CEEP in Claremore and later worked at Westside Elementary, Claremont Elementary and Claremore High School. Janet was passionate about her work and was well-respected by her students and peers. She retired after 20 years of teaching.
Upon retirement, Janet and Jim enjoyed traveling around the country in their RV. Their favorite destination was Utah. After Jim passed away April 18, 2014, Janet continued traveling with her sister Carol, her grandchildren, and her best friend, Jan Wilson.
Janet loved reading, music, cooking, doing crossword puzzles (the hard ones), antique shopping and the OKC Thunder. She always had a story to tell and could easily strike up a conversation with anyone. She loved her family deeply - she was the rock of her family.
Janet is survived by daughters Jennifer Arra Esau and husband Andy of Claremore, and Andrea Leigh Myers and husband Jackson of St. Louis; grandchildren Claire Alise Esau, Lillian Paulene Myers, Isabelle Arra Esau, Nicholas Ford Karmann and Quentin Girod Myers; sister Carol Hayes and David of Lufkin, Texas; sister-in-law Mary June Faught of Claremore; brother-in-law and sister-in-law John and Linda Farr of Kansas, Oklahoma; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Janet was preceded in death by her husband Jim Lee Farr, her parents Cleon and Virginia, her infant daughter Jamie Alice Farr, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Flovin and Paulene, and brothers Stan Faught and Tom Faught.
A memorial celebrating Janet's life will be 10 a.m. to noon on Sunday, Nov. 3 at Three Twenty on Main, 320 W. Will Rogers Blvd., in Claremore. In lieu of flowers or other condolences, please consider a donation in Janet's name to Claremore Public Schools Foundation, P.O. Box 575 Claremore, OK 74018-0575.

Could never thank her enough for her friendship and the greatest gift of bringing Bob and I together. While being on a trip with your Mom and Dad we were engaged and married on their anniversary. What a precious love they had and one we were honored to aspire to!

I am saddened to learn of Janet's passing. I graduated in 71 and knew Janet in high school. She was always a friend to all and treated me well. We taught together at Claremore High although we were at opposite ends of the building and did not see each other a lot. I know she cared for her students and was an asset to our profession.

Janet was a very special friend. She welcomed our family into her home on a regular basis while we lived in Claremore. She was a terrific hostess and cook and we spent many enjoyable evening over cards as our children played. She will be missed by many.
