John Wilson Lamason Obituary

Claremore - John Wilson Lamason, known affectionately to all as Wilson, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2023, in Claremore, OK. He was born on January 1, 1933, in Marysville, MO, to the late Evelyn Elizabeth Lamason and John T. Lamason. Wilson was a devoted family man, a skilled craftsman, and a decorated veteran whose gentle spirit, intelligence, and loving nature touched all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Wilson's early years were marked by the pursuit of education. After completing two years of college, he answered the call of duty, serving bravely in the Korean War as a member of the U.S. Army. His experiences in the military not only shaped his character but also instilled in him a deep sense of patriotism and duty.

Upon his return from service, he went on to complete an Associates degree in Mechanical Drafting at Fullerton Junior College. Wilson then went on to embark on a successful 25-year career as a repairman with IBM. His natural intelligence and knack for problem-solving served him well in this role, earning him the respect and admiration of his colleagues. His dedication to his work was rivaled only by his commitment to his family, which was always his first priority.

Wilson was a loving husband to his wife, Nancy Lamason, and a devoted father to their two children, John A. Lamason and Elizabeth and husband Bob Howell. He was a proud grandfather to Daniel and Karin Howell, David and Leanna Howell, and Allison and Ryan Alexander. The joy of his later years was watching his three great-granddaughters grow.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Wilson was a man of many talents and interests. His hands, skilled from years of intricate repair work, found a creative outlet in woodworking. Many will remember the beautiful pieces he crafted in his garage, each one a testament to his patience and attention to detail. His love for fixing things extended to bicycles, a pastime that brought smiles to the faces of neighborhood kids and his own grandchildren.

Wilson's passion for life was not confined to his garage. He was an accomplished ballroom dancer, sweeping his beloved Nancy off her feet and winning numerous awards for their graceful performances. Together, they traveled extensively, creating a wealth of memories that they shared with their family and friends.

In the quiet moments, Wilson could often be found in front of the television, a testament to his love for simple pleasures. His relaxed demeanor and gentle spirit made him a comforting presence, a beacon of calm in the hustle and bustle of life.

Wilson is survived by his loving wife, Nancy, their children and grandchildren, and his great-granddaughters. He was predeceased by his parents, Evelyn and John T. Lamason, and his brother, Benjamin Lamason, who passed as an infant. His loss will be deeply felt by all who knew him, but his legacy will live on in the many lives he touched.

Wilson's life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and dedication. His quiet strength and unwavering commitment to his family were his greatest achievements. As we remember him, let us celebrate a life well-lived and honor a man who made the world a better place through his kindness, intelligence, and love. His memory will continue to inspire us all, reminding us of the beauty in simple pleasures and the joy found in serving others.
