Claremore - Jonnie Mae Neely passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Born on April 17, 1931, in Elk City, Oklahoma, Jonnie's life was a tapestry of devotion to her family, her work, and her myriad interests that kept her spirit vibrantly alive for 94 years.

Raised by her grandmother, Jonnie's early years were steeped in the values of hard work and selflessness. She graduated from Cleveland High School, where she laid the foundation for a life of continuous learning and engagement. In 1949, Jonnie married the love of her life, Paul Neely upon his return from World War II. Together, they moved to Claremore and established the Neely Insurance Agency in 1951, a family business that Jonnie devoted herself to with unwavering commitment.

Jonnie's life was marked by her role as a beloved matriarch. She is survived by her son, Steve Neely, and his wife, Terrie; her daughter, Sherry Barstow, and her husband, Ed; her grandchildren, Ginger Kollmann and her husband, Dave; Ryan Neely and his wife, Amy; Crystle Keeney, and Kellie Ball and her husband, Aaron; and her great-grandchildren, Grant, Reed, and Neely Holley, Elliot, Emmalynn, and Everly Neely, Jackson and Knox Keeney, Westin Clinton and Wyatt Ball, and Brian and Brandon Ball. Jonnie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul Neely, her father, John Sanders, her mother, Leatha Sanders, and her sisters, Clara, Jody, and Patty.

Jonnie's interests and activities were as diverse as they were passionate. She was the hostess of many family gatherings including the quintessential Christmas Eve Celebration, creating memories that would last a lifetime. A member of her local bridge club, she enjoyed the camaraderie and challenge of the game.

Her vitality was unmatched; Jonnie was a very healthy and active individual who never missed an opportunity to exercise, whether it was playing golf, tennis, skiing, or riding ATVs. She even walked a 5k in a tutu in her eighties, showcasing her spirited sense of humor and zest for life. A true busybody, Jonnie never sat down, not even while she was cheering on her beloved OSU football and basketball teams.

Jonnie's love for the outdoors was evident in her enjoyment of yard work and gardening. Her hands, always willing to nurture and tend, brought forth the beauty of nature in her own backyard. Her generosity extended beyond her family; she was known for her selfless nature and her willingness to help others in any way she could.

On the day of her passing, Jonnie and Paul would have celebrated their 76th wedding anniversary, a testament to their enduring love and partnership. Jonnie's legacy is one of a spirited woman who lived her life with joy and purpose. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
