Julia left her temporary earthly home for her permanent heavenly home on Saturday, November 16, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was 64.
Born in Claremore, OK to Eurvin E. and Alene (Ford) Smith. Julia was raised and educated in Claremore and graduated from Claremore High School with the class of 1978. Julia continued her education at Claremore Junior College which is now RSU. She went on to attend Northeastern State University in Tahlequah receiving her bachelor's degree in elementary education. On December 26, 1981, at the First Baptist Church in Verdigris, Julia married the love of her life Randy Rowland. Their marriage was gifted with 5 children, Michael, Jealene, Angela, Jeremy, and Arthur. Julia helped contribute to the family finances working at Wal-Mart for over 25 years.
A true Proverbs 31 woman, Julia excelled at being a wife, mother and MiMi. She followed the instruction she found in God's Word and lived her life accordingly. Julia loved and was well loved. She lived her life her way. According to her family she had a weird, quirky style but it was unique to Julia. She had a gift of creativity and was very crafty. Actively involved in their church she and Randy were attending, Julia was one of the go-to people for VBS decorations, Awana decorations or any other decorating. She was frugal and did most of her shopping at Goodwill and could make anything out of cardboard boxes and duct tape. Her children remember a cardboard maze she made and everyone at the event wanted to crawl through it including the elderly.
When it came to her family Julia's smile might have been the brightest when they all were together. Julia enjoyed whistling and according to her children she used that ability as a form of discipline. In church as her health declined and she was unable to sing along with the praise and worship songs, Julia would just whistle. It might be pointed out that grandson Connor now whistles when he goes to church. Julia liked her family to dress alike; a tradition she started with her husband Randy. If Julia bought a shirt she liked, she got one for Randy as well so they would match. She liked denim and each of her children and some of the grandchildren now have blankets made from their old denim jeans. Those blankets have now become treasures. No story about Julia would be complete unless you mentioned her love of farm animals. According to her family she was very fond of all her chickens and goats.
A lady that has lived a courageous life and faced many health issues with the attitude of "God's Got This'. Julia has left a huge footprint and legacy that will live on in the lives of her family and friends. Julia is survived by her husband of over 42 years Randy, children, Michael Rowland and Marty, Jeremy Rowland wife Alex, Arthur Rowland and fiancé Breanna Shirley, Jealene Vest and husband Jonathan, Angela Prock and husband Dylan, grandchildren, Juliette, Infinity, Devvony, Shawn, Emberly, Evalynn, Karissa, Kayden, Connor, Kassidy, Aliza, and Wilden, brother, Dr. Elbert Smith, father-in-law, Dale Rowland, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Julia was preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Maverick, brother Randall Smith, and mother-in-law, Jean Rowland.
