Junior Green passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at the age of 90. He was born on November 26, 1934, in Titanic, Oklahoma to Daniel and Edna (Sims) Green.
Junior was raised in rural Adair County, OK and Cincinatti, AR and then moved to Claremore at the age of 14. He attended Claremore schools before enlisting in the United States Air Force in November of 1954. He proudly served his country until his discharge in 1962. Upon returning home, he began a career as a welder, working for Tulsa Chrome for most of his life. He retired from Homeland Stores as a courtesy clerk.
Junior had a deep love for Jesus and found joy in playing the guitar, listening to country music, dancing, and tending to his garden. He was a man with endless stories, that he enjoyed sharing with everyone over a cup of coffee. His nickname became "The Green Machine" by those who worked with him, because he could fix anything you asked him to. Junior embraced the role of being a leader and role model for his family as he made many sacrifices to help care for his mother, his siblings and his daughter and her family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Green and Edna Sims Green; his brothers, Howard Balcom, Lonnie, Ira, and David Green; and his sisters, Anne Gwartney, Verna Little, and Lola Ross.
Junior is survived by his loving daughter, Anna Hughes and her husband James; grandchildren, Austin Curlee and wife Heather, Jenna Landua and husband Tyler, James Hughes IV, and Alexandra Hughes; great-grandchildren, Audrey and Aiden Curlee; as well as many cherished friends.
His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
