Martha  Steidley


Martha Ann Borchardt Steidley will be laid to rest on July 22nd 2019 at 10:00 am. Graveside services will be held at the Oakhaven Memorial Gardens.
Martha was born in 1947 to parents Fred and Loweta Borchardt of Miami, Oklahoma. Four years later they moved to Tulsa as a family. She attended elementary school in Tulsa Public Schools. At age twelve the family moved to Claremore, where she attended Sagyeeah, a small two room school house. Martha then graduated from Claremore High School. As a young girl she participated in rodeos and was elected rodeo queen two years in a row. She also actively competed in barrel racing and horse shows. She later gave birth to two children, Todd and Marcie. She enjoyed being a part of their sports and other activities. She worked at telex for eight years. She began her college education in 1983 at RS College, graduating with an associates degree in 1987. She was given the opportunity to attend Georgetown University in Washington D.C. She attended classes and worked at the financial aid office and went on to receive her BA degree in 1991. Marty participated and was very active in politics. Her father became ill soon after and she returned to Claremore. She began to pursue her Masters at Oklahoma University and worked at RS College. She completed her masters and started working for the Oklahoma Department of Vocational Rehabilitation and became a counselor. She loved her job and clients very much. She retired after twenty four years with the state. She was always an active supporter for her kids and grandkids sports, performances and all events. She continued her generosity and giving spirit by volunteering at the American Legion, helping and supporting our veterans. she was so very proud of both her children and their individual achievements and truly loved her entire family. Family was her life. so proud of her kids and grandkids!!
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Loweta Borchardt, grandmothers Louise Borchardt and Martha Bays, and her aunt Virginia Teague. She is survived by son Todd Steidley and wife Kelli of Tuttle; daughter Marcie of Claremore: grandchildren Erin Delk of Owasso; Garrett Steidley of Tuttle; Marlie Gaudette of Claremore. She was also blessed with a great-grandchild Louden Delk of Peidmont.
