Mary  Mobra
A celebration of the life of Mary Cole Skinner Mobra will be at 10:00 am Friday, January 24, 2020, at First United Methodist Church, where she was a long time member. Dr. Ray Crawford will share words of comfort. Mary will be laid to rest beside her husband, James Franklin "Frank" Mobra, at a committal service to be held at 3:00 pm that afternoon at the Wyandotte Cemetery under the direction of MMS-Payne Funeral Service. Friends and family may visit at the funeral home on Thursday, January 23, from 1-8 pm, with family receiving visitors from 5-7 pm.
Mary went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, January 19, 2020. She was 91 years old.
She was born November 12, 1928 in Dallas, Texas to R.W. and Nora Skinner. Due to losing her mother at a very early age, Mary attended a variety of private schools in Oklahoma while her father was a member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives.
Mary graduated high school in 1946 from Monte Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma. While she was there, having ridden for ten years, she proudly showed her four and five gaited famous horse "Copper King", and was awarded twenty First Place ribbons.
Mary continued her education at Northeastern A&M College, (now NEO), where she met Frank Mobra. She and Frank were married May 23, 1947, and together made their first home in Miami, Oklahoma. Mary later graduated from college at Northeastern State, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education. She taught Special Education in Claremore Public Schools, retiring after twenty years.
Mary was dedicated to her family. She never missed an event that her husband and children participated in. Mary loved fishing, horse shows, her home, and her animals, She especially enjoyed watching sports. The St. Louis Cardinals, Arkansas Razorbacks and the Oklahoma Sooners were her favorites.
Mary was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, and Claremore Hospital Ladies Auxiliary.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, James Franklin "Frank" Mobra. She is survived by her children, Mike Mobra and wife Jane of Broken Arrow and Melody Egleston and husband Terry of Claremore; her beloved grandchildren, Mark Mobra and wife Mila Koman-Mobra of Tulsa, T.J. Mobra and wife Mindy of Broken Arrow, Gina Howard and husband Scott of Shawnee, Dr. Tera Egleston of Oologah, and Peyton Egleston and wife Kari of Edmond; her great-grandchildren Ashton and Riley Mobra, Taylor Mobra, Eva Lawhorn, and Blakely Howard.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the First United Methodist Church, 1516 S. Hwy 88, Claremore, OK, 74017, or to Good Shepherd Hospice, 4343 S. 118th E. Ave., Suite 160, Tulsa, OK, 74146.
