Mike passed away on Friday, September 15, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was 64.
Born in Tulsa, OK on February 3, 1959 to Fred W. and Lavern (Brazeal) Jordan, Mike was raised and educated in Claremore and graduated from Claremore High School with the Class of 1977. He continued his education at OSU and was a huge Pokes fan. Mike married the mother of his children, Tonya Dikeman, at his parent's home, on March 21, 1981. Mike provided for his family working for CF Industries (formally Terra Nitrogen) for over 35 years before his retirement in 2021.
A man that was all about his family, Mike was actively involved in all his sons' activities. He coached their baseball teams as well as hauled them to the golf course and ballfields for their games and practices. It might be said he was one of their biggest fans and supporters. Mike was a fan of college sports and could be found on Sunday afternoons watching NASCAR racing. According to his sons', he was an avid fisherman and that truly was his "ME" time. Mike loved to read and was a real history buff. When they loaded up for vacation it was consider traveling with a purpose. Mike would always map out a route that was sure to take them through towns and places that contained history. If there was a museum there that was just an added bonus. His family said throughout his life Mike never wanted to stop learning. One example of this was that for a work service anniversary gift, in a catalog full of grills and golf clubs, it should come as no surprise he chose the new telescope to build his astronomy skills.
One thing his sons' said you for sure never wanted to do, was ask their dad for directions. Mike would quickly pull out his Rand McNally road atlas and mark out their route. In fact, many times as they were traveling, he would call them on their cell phones and tell them exactly where they should be if they were following the directions, he gave them.
A man that has left a huge footprint not only as a son but as a dad, pops, brother, uncle, and friend. Mike is survived by his children, Wes Jordan and wife, Cheyanne, Dylan Jordan and Taylor Jordan and wife, Janna, grandchildren, Paisley Jordan and Thomas Jordan, mother Lavern Jordan, sister, Lorri McGlothlin and husband, John, nieces, Dr. Ashley Mayer and husband, Michael and Dr. Stephanie McGlothlin.
