Ruth Virginia Dirickson Obituary

Claremore - Ruth Virginia Dirickson passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026, in Claremore, Oklahoma, at the age of 97. Born on March 28, 1928, in Dover, Missouri, to the late Dan and Bessie Burke, Ruth's life was a testament to resilience, compassion, and unwavering spirit.

Ruth's journey through life was marked by her dedication to her community and her country. A proud member of the First Christian Church, she lived her faith through acts of kindness and service. Her commitment to fellowship was further exemplified by her active involvement with Omicron Master and her status as a Life member of both the Oklahoma City chapter of American Ex-Prisoners of War and the Senior Circle.

The love story between Ruth and her late husband, Louis W. Dirickson, spanned 48 beautiful years, during which they built a family and a legacy of love that would endure long after their passing. Ruth was a devoted mother to her sons, the late Louis Wayne Dirickson II of Claremore and Gary Ray Weaver of Cleora, Oklahoma. Her heart was also filled with love for her companion and best friend, Bob Pletcher of Claremore,

whose memory she cherished after his passing.

Ruth's family tree continued to flourish with the presence of her daughter-in-law, Myra Weaver of Cleora, and her grandsons, Lowell Abraham Weaver of Cleora and Gary Ray Weaver II, along with his wife, Bree. Her great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Anna of Norman, Oklahoma, brought her immeasurable joy and pride.

She was held in high esteem by her many friends for her ever-ready laughter, loyalty, and thoughtfulness, which were the cornerstones of countless cherished relationships. An avid Oklahoma Sooner Football fan, Ruth's enthusiasm for her team was infectious, and her spirit of camaraderie was felt by all who joined her in cheering on her beloved Sooners.

Ruth's creative talents were beautifully expressed through the many afghan blankets she crocheted with care and skill. These blankets, woven with warmth and affection, will be cherished for generations, wrapping her loved ones in the comfort of her memory.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Ruth's "Golden Girls" and Good Shepherd Hospice for the loving and tender care they provided to Ruth during her final days.

Friends who wish to make a memorial donation may do so to the Claremore Senior Center, 475 E Blue Starr Dr, Claremore, OK 74017.
