Claremore, OK - The family of Sonja Kathleen (Kathy) Parker sadly announces that she left us suddenly on June 1, 2025.

Kathy was born in Beatrice, Nebraska on November 16, 1934, to James and Monta Hurley. The family eventually moved to Arkansas where she met and later married John Cooper. John and Kathy welcomed a baby girl, Vicky Lynn, in 1954, and her sister, Linda Kay, in 1955. Soon thereafter, the family moved to Claremore, where Kathy worked first as a dental assistant and later as business manager.

Kathy later married Elmer Roberts, and they welcomed a son, Elmer, Jr., in 1970. Kathy finally found and married her soulmate in Clyde Parker, and they enjoyed nearly 20 years of happiness before Clyde passed suddenly in 1997.

Kathy's passions were spending time with her children, grandchildren and great granddaughter, doting on her sweet pets, and dancing, dancing, dancing. Indeed, she and her dear friend Francis Jones were dancing just two nights before her death. We have no doubt that she is dancing now.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter Linda Cooper Wallace (1991); her husband Clyde Parker (1997); and her daughter-in-law Deborah Purcell Roberts (2021). But she is survived, loved and missed by her children, Vicky Cooper Benedict (Shelton) and Elmer Roberts, Jr. (Tania); grandsons Dillon Roberts (Morgyn) and Austin Roberts (fiancée Kelsi Lawrence); and her precious great granddaughter, Presley Rose.

The family plans to hold a Celebration of Life in the coming weeks.
