Wilma Ann (James) Roosa was born on November 14, 1932 in Mulberry, Kansas to Raymond and Eula (Miller) James. Her family eventually settled in Claremore, Oklahoma where she graduated from Claremore High School in 1950. When Wilma was in the third grade, she decided she wanted to be a nurse. Following her high school graduation, she worked for McDonnell Douglas and saved her money so she could pay her way through OU nursing school. She flourished in nursing school and graduated with honors. Wilma loved her nursing career which spanned several decades, with her longest service being at the Claremore Indian Hospital in the Emergency Department.
In 1959, Wilma married Daniel Dewey Roosa in Claremore. They were blessed with two daughters. Wilma was a dedicated mother and supported their many activities. She was also an amazing grandma who always had an open door for her grandchildren who spent many hours being entertained at MeeMaw Wilma's house.
Wilma had many hobbies and interests which included sewing, cake decorating, volunteering at her church, taking road trips with Dan, and following OU football. She was a perpetually positive person, even during her last days.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother, William James. She is survived by her loving daughters, Dana Roosa of Tulsa and Janette Roosa Parker and husband Robert Parker of Claremore; her grandsons Matthew Parker and wife Allie of Aurora, Colorado, Jack Parker and fiancée Katie Keary of San Antonio, Texas, Daniel Parker and wife Lauren of Oklahoma City, and Sam Parker who attends college in Stillwater; and by her great grandsons Graham and Bennett Parker of Aurora, Colorado. She is also survived by lifelong friend, Jerry Brasier, of Claremore.
The family would like to thank the many people who lovingly cared for Wilma over the course of her illness, especially the staff of Trinity Woods in Tulsa and Season's Hospice.
