Visitation will be 4-7, Thursday, at Claremore Assembly of God, with family there from 5-7. Jean passed away at her home, surrounded by her family, on Saturday, December 9, 2023. She was 93.
Born in rural Rogers County on November 27, 1930 to John Marshall and Iva Bell (Wilson) Rucker, Jean was raised and educated in Claremore. She graduated from Claremore High School with the Class of 1948. On August 20, 1959 in Bentonville, AR, Jean married the love of her life, Charles Haas. They became a blended family with three sons.
Jean spent the rest of her life caring for her family. She excelled at being a wife and mother. A Godly woman and perhaps the perfect example of Proverbs 31, Jean not only raised her three boys but was instrumental in raising several of her grandchildren. In fact, granddaughter Rachel said Nani made sure she and Sammy were provided for and happy. Jean was active in the Claremore Assembly of God Church (formerly First Assembly of God), for over 60 years. She enjoyed the study of scripture, gospel music and singing in the choir.
When her boys were young, Jean was involved in all their school activities. She attended ball games, was a homeroom mother, and a den mother for the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts. Jean liked to spend time on the family pontoon boat but always remained a little uneasy because she just did not like water. She was always up to talk politics. Jean's mind was sharp as a tack and you can bet, she would make her opinion known. Family said her days were filled watching Fox News and she absorbed everything they said like a sponge. Always having her family on her mind. One of her granddaughter's said Jean called and left her a voice message on her phone. The message said I have been thinking about you and I have a little advice and the best part is its free. Jean said if she had her life to live over, she would serve Jesus every day.
This mom and Nani has left a huge legacy that will live on in the lives of her family. Jean is survived by her children, Bob Mendenhall and wife, Mary and Jeff Haas, grandchildren, Michele Hinkle and husband, Chris, Rachel Haas and boyfriend, Augustus Baker, Sarah Haas, Hannah Haas, Isabel Haas and Sammy Haas, great grandchildren, Rahlee Avery, Sylas Seay, Sawyer Seay, Ryder Padgitt, Falcon Littledave, Afton Littledave, Mateo- Emiliano-Segura and baby girl Baker on the way. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles, son, Wade, grandson, Reed Mendenhall, sister, Thelda Boen, and brothers, Wayne Rucker and Johnny Rucker.
